Summer is the season of the voice--the season of shedding the false self and speaking the truth of our lives. It is the season of full-flowered authenticity. At the highpoint of the year, summer offers us the opportunity to realign with our truth and reconnect to our sources of inspiration and our life dream.
In this workshop series, we will share poems and write to them, in whatever writing style most pleases each writer. Our time together will also include guided visualizations and an experiential with color. Examples of our six weekly themes include:
The Small Silences Between the Leaves: The Gift of Slowing Down
Night Wind Woman: The Gift of Inspiration
To Carry Within Us an Orchard: The Gift of Authenticity
The Place Inside That Is Unbreakable: The Gift of Telling the Truth
Splashing in the Poetry Puddle: The Gift of Humility
Taking the Earth for Your Own Large Room: The Gift of Manifestation
These weekly themes are inspired by Dr. Angeles Arrien’s study of the four seasons. According to Dr. Arrien, indigenous cultures widely consider summer to be the time of the visionary, whose practice is to tell the truth, stay connected to sources of inspiration, and manifest one’s gifts and talents in the world. This series is the third of four that will be offered throughout 2020, inspired by each season.

I love these weekly groups because there is always a moment where you feel ready to go deeper, and it’s so good. The other women risk more as well. It’s magic. Thank you for your expert holding of space, and the nurturing environment. I don’t want it to end!

I loved Birch’s workshop. I liked her methods, which allowed more emotional response and allowed us all to go deeper. We all rode the waves smoothly with her compassionate and loving guidance. She always gives such beautiful feedback in writing circles, and that skill along with the skillful holding of space makes for a great experience.

I totally enjoyed the experience yesterday. You held the container so beautifully. I was surprised by the emotions provoked for me by the prompts and glad to have the information about myself. I especially appreciated the attention and encouragement you gave to each writer.
